A Serene Escape: Our Stay at Carmel Mission Inn

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Carmel Mission Inn, and from the moment we arrived, we felt enveloped in calm. Tucked along the Pacific Coast Highway yet just a short drive from Carmel-by-the-Sea, the Inn offers the perfect mix of convenience and tranquility.

Our room was beautifully modern and obviously recently upgraded. Clean lines, comfortable bedding, eco-friendly touches, and all the little details we always appreciate made it feel both fresh and cozy. The thoughtful design made it easy to unwind and truly settle in after a day of exploring.

One of our favorite parts of the stay was spending time at the pool and on the grounds. The heated outdoor pool and hot tub were lovely for a midday dip, and the surrounding courtyard is a dream — fire pits glowing in the evening, string lights overhead, and plenty of seating nooks for relaxing or chatting. It felt like the kind of place you could happily linger for hours with a book or a drink.

We also had breakfast at Shearwater Tavern, their on-site restaurant, and it was a delightful start to the day. Fresh, flavorful dishes served in a bright, comfortable space — we especially loved the avocado toast and the overnight oats. It’s clear they take care in their food just as much as they do in their design and service!

As for Carmel itself, what a gem of a town! Delightfully charming, full of character, and just around a five-minute drive from the Inn. We wandered the streets, discovered wonderful restaurants and cafes, and soaked in the art galleries and ocean views. It’s the kind of place that feels like a storybook town — small, walkable, and endlessly inviting.
